Danish composer and classically trained multi-instrumentalist, MYRKUR unveils her forthcoming album title Mareridt, out this fall on Relapse. It is the follow up to her masterful debut M, released back in 2015 to overwhelming critical acclaim. Mareridt was produced between Seattle and Copenhagen by Randall Dunn who is known for his work with Marissa Nadler, Earth, Sunn O))), Boris, Wolves In The Throne Room and more.
On the one year anniversary of her critically-acclaimed, masterful debut full-length, M, Danish black metal artist MYRKUR unveils a captivating live recording from the historic Emanuel Vigeland Mausoleum in Oslo, Norway. Aptly titled Mausoleum, the album features beautifully dramatic & stripped down acoustic reinventions of seven songs from M plus one brand new song and a Bathory cover; all with the accompaniment of the storied Norwegian Girls Choir. Captured in a cold, dimly lit tomb covered in morbid frescos that depict the circle of human life from conception til death, Mausoleum is an incredible showcase of MYRKUR's sublime yet haunting voice in a truly chilling, unrivaled atmosphere.
It’s been nearly a year since Amalie Bruun shook the metal world with M, her debut LP, and more importantly, her formal unmasking as the black-metal phenom Myrkur. Originally framed as a spontaneous musical manifestation of the Nordic darkness, the Danish musician’s project has always been associated with liminality — an anonymous approach decried by some as a bit of PR sorcery. On M, Bruun quashed the naysayers’ accusations of gimmickry for good by channeling the project’s overarching intrigue into a crushing, meticulously crafted portrait of the sublime. She hadn’t just built a mystery — with Myrkur, she’d created a monster.
Last year Danish black metal phenom, MYRKUR, took us by storm with her lush, brutal melodies that blend second-wave black metal, Nordic folk music, classical instrumentation and haunting choirs. Since the release of her highly acclaimed debut M, MYRKUR has only performed select shows in Europe. Now MYRKUR will begin her first ever tour with Deafheaven in Europe. Additionally, this spring she's set to play her first live dates in North America - performing as direct support for the mighty Behemoth on the Blasfemia Amerika tour coming in April - a full list of dates is available below.
Danish black metal phenom MYRKUR has just premiered live recordings of three tracks via the BBC's Radio 1 Rock Show. The sessions, which were recorded live at Maida Vale Studios on October 26, include the tracks "Frosne Vind," "Onde Børn", "Hævnen," "Jeg er Guden I er tjenerne", and "Song to hall up high", off of Myrkur's 2014 self-titled EP and her debut 2015 full-length M.
